Post-Masters Certificate: Nursing Education

Post-Master’s Certificates in Nursing Education (12 credits) are intended for those who have a master’s degree in nursing who wish to acquire additional knowledge for roles as a nurse educator or nurse leader.

The Post Master's Certificate graduate of the Kramer School of Nursing will function as a professional nurse, able to:  

  • Demonstrate the capacity to develop environments promoting professional, ethical and legal nursing practice. 
  • Design, implement and evaluate comprehensive programs based upon advanced theoretical knowledge that promote health, restore wellness, prevent illness and incorporate self-care activities.
  • Synthesize nursing research findings and integrate evidence based processes to develop critical thinking frameworks for problem solving and making effective clinical, educational and administrative judgments. Demonstrate leadership in the promotion of physical, mental, social and spiritual health across the life span within diverse cultures. 
  • Provide collaborative and innovative leadership to coordinate and delegate care of clients and to manage health care systems. 
  • Develop practice environments that exemplify the caring behaviors of acceptance, respect and empathy.

Credit Hours: 12

The Post-Master’s Certificate Programs admit once a year. In order to be admitted, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Admission to the university including resume and personal statement
  • Two letters from professional references, such as those from employees, co-workers, or nursing school faculty members who had the applicant as a student
  • Successful completion of a prior Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Graduate cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better
  • Current, active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse
