Educational Instructional Design

This certificate program will provide you with a means for enhancing your professional skills to innovatively address current and future instructional and pedagogical needs. It empowers teachers with the tools to impact their school communities and the world at large through creative curriculum for the modern classroom.

Upon completion of the program, you will be equipped with skills such as designing effective learning experiences, integrating learning theories into instructional practices and leading curriculum development initiatives. Participants will learn how to:

  • design effective learning experiences for a variety of learners
  • implement research methodologies and perform data analyses
  • apply principles of curriculum development and instructional design
  • integrate theories of learning and development into instructional practice
  • utilize effective instructional practices and assessment of learning
  • provide innovative leadership in curriculum development and instructional design

All courses will be delivered in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and remote participation.

The only prerequisite is a bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA

GRED6323 Principles of Curriculum and Instructional Design

Integrated study of the principles of curriculum and instructional design as it relates to learning. Aspects of educational pedagogy will be addressed including lesson planning and sequencing, instructional materials and strategies, and effective assessment and evaluation techniques. (Fall)

GRED6533 Creating Accessible Learning Experiences

Theoretical and practical foundation for the creation of innovative and engaging learning environments that leverage educational technology. (Summer)

GRED6423 The Assessment/Instruction Loop

Best practices in assessment; connecting assessment and instruction across the elementary curriculum teaching students w/exceptionalities; basic statistics for educational settings; tutoring an elementary student in literacy and mathematics.
