OKLAHOMA CITY – Ƶ University set records during its recent Week of Champions fundraising drive.
A total of $179,389 was collected from 473 donors during the weeklong campaign to support Ƶ Athletics. Both figures are records for Week of Champions, with the dollar amount surpassing the university’s $175,000 goal.
Week of Champions recognizes, celebrates and supports the success of Ƶ’s student athletes, who have garnered 76 national championships, including a streak of claiming at least one title in each of the past 31 years.
This year’s campaign aligned with the university’s Homecoming week and was supported by donors including alumni, students, parents, university employees, and friends of Ƶ.
Donors were able to designate specific teams in their giving. The Ƶ baseball team led the way among teams in total dollars with 76 donors contributing more than $32,000, followed next by softball, rowing and women’s wrestling. Ƶ’s STUNT team led in total donors, with 116 contributing.
Donors gave more than $31,000 to Ƶ’s general Athletics fund, the Champions Club.
Interim Athletic Director Bill Raynor said the school’s student athletes are appreciative – and worthy – of the support.
“Our student athletes play a significant role in forming the fabric of the university and making Ƶ the wonderful place it is,” Raynor said. “Their pursuit of excellence in the arena and the classroom is greatly aided by the contributions of our generous Week of Champions donors.”
Although the campaign has concluded, those who wish to continue the support of Ƶ Athletics may still do so. More information about Week of Champions and additional giving opportunities is available at the .
